The organizations under the Brooklyn Community Development umbrella focus on arts, culture, creativity and connectivity to contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the community. This annual event is vital to support the ability to maintain these beautiful facilities, keep rental rates low and provide free/reduced-cost programming in the community. “As a cornerstone of the community since 1911, the Brooklyn Opera House and affiliated venues serve as a place for people to come together in the community, facilitate dialogue, encourage civic participation, and promote a sense of belonging among community members,” said Laura Manatt, General Manager. “As non-profit organizations, events like this fundraiser are vital to keeping these venues affordable and accessible for our community.” Cocktail hour will begin at 5 p.m., and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. with a live auction to follow. Dinner will be catered by Peppercorn Food Company and will include tossed salad, chicken and pork tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and raspberry cheesecake. Vegetarian options are available upon request. To donate an item towards the silent or live auction, please contact the opera house at 641-522-2424.
