Amwood Homes, Inc., a Wisconsin-based business, recently announced plans to move into the former A1 Fiberglass facility at 530 N. Front St., in Montezuma. The goal is to start production at the new location in March 2021. The new location will employ approximately 18 full-time team members with every intention to grow and expand the team and business in Iowa and potential adjacent markets. “The new Montezuma facility provides the opportunity to significantly expand our production capacity” said Aaron Roush, Amwood Homes’ President. Amwood also maintains a manufacturing facility in Madison, Wisc. Amwood’s purchase of the existing 28,400 sq. ft. facility in Montezuma, came after a severe line of storms significantly damaged their Toledo, Iowa operation. Amwood leadership opted for the new facility, due to multiple advantages it will provide the company, including but not limited to its significant size, as well as its excellent condition, making the move and conversion a smooth transition for all. The new space provides Amwood with six buildings and more than six acres of land. The primary products that will be manufactured here will be component packages, which includes wall panels, floor trusses, and roof trusses. The facility will also feature ample office space and a Show Room for Amwood authorized home builders and their potential homeowners to utilize. Chief Executive Officer of Amwood Homes, C. David Hiller, is thrilled about the new facility and the company’s next chapter in Iowa. “We are very committed to our Iowa Builders and are excited to be part of the Montezuma community,” noted Hiller. Along with Hiller, Chairman and Owner of Amwood Homes, Doug Scott, noted his excitement. “Our move to Montezuma will provide us with the opportunity for future growth and development within the state of Iowa, as well as other markets,” he said. Montezuma Mayor Jacki Bolen said she and councilmembers, Curtis Bolen and Colin Watts, along with city finance director, Abby Hubbard, met with Hiller in the fall of 2020. “Immediately following our meeting we knew that they were a perfect fit for Montezuma,” said Mayor Bolen. “David has already checked out the town and the school and he liked what he saw. Amwood Homes is very community minded and we’re lucky to have them. We feel very honored that they chose Montezuma to expand their business.” Amwood Homes, Inc., headquartered in Janesville, Wisc., is one of the Midwest’s premier panelized custom-home manufacturers.
