Montezuma High School Senior Waverly Roorda signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, March 25 to play volleyball for the Mount Mercy University Mustangs in the fall. The 5’9” setter for the Bravettes has been playing competitively since seventh grade.
“It’s something I have always enjoyed and I don’t want to stop,” she said
Roorda also plays volleyball on an Iowa City-based club team, The Iowa Rockets.
While visiting the university in Cedar Rapids to look at the nursing program, Roorda was able to meet with the head volleyball coach Deb Marlin.
At Mount Mercy, Roorda plans to study nursing and her goal is to work with premature babies in a hospital NICU.
Joining her in the picture are her parents, Brian and Liesl Roorda, brother, Spencer, and sister, Isabella. Her brother, Sidney, who lives in St. Louis, was unable to attend the signing.
