Montezuma’s Pat O’Brien earns Coach of the Year honors, three players earn MVP honors

   Montezuma Braves Head Football Coach, Pat O’Brien, has been named the Coach of the Year following the release of the 2020 Class 8P – District 4 All-District Team honors.
   “Getting coach of the year was a nice award to be voted on for our district and by the other head coaches,” said Coach O’Brien. “For me though, this is all about the boys. I wouldn't have received this if it hadn’t been for them. They are the reason we got as far as we did. They (the Braves) laid the framework for our season and for our culture.”
   O’Brien, who is in his second year as a head coach, led the 8-Man Braves to a 10-1 record and a semifinals finish at the UNI-Dome.     
  Eddie Burgess, Brian Diaz and Owen Cook, all Montezuma, also earned Most Valuable Player honors. Burgess earned Offensive MVP, while Diaz earned Lineman MVP and Special Teams MVP went to Cook. Carter Allen with New London earned Defensive MVP honors.
