Dale Watts, a World War II Veteran and long-time Montezuma resident, received a special present for his 94th birthday on Monday, Nov. 18. Watts and five members of the Montezuma American Legion Post 169 traveled to Grinnell for a meet and greet with the American Legion National Vice-Commander Bruce Feuerbach at Saints Rest Coffee House. Feuerbach, who is on a tour of Iowa, stopped in Grinnell to visit Grinnell Post 53. While there, he presented Watts with a certificate honoring his 74-years of continuous membership and for his service to the country and American Legion. Those in attendance with Watts were Tom Tish, Gene Story, Boyd Sparks, Rodney Morse and Ron Hensel.
“This was a class act,” said Department of Iowa, District 5 Commander Randy Johnson, following the presentation. “Happy 94th birthday and congratulations Dale.”
