JV Bravettes continue perfect record with win against Earlham

Bravettes JV squad improve to 9-0 with, 35-21, win at Earlham
The Bravettes JV team took on Earlham in the first game of a girls doubleheader on Friday, Jan. 3 at Earlham. In a battle with both teams playing strong defense throughout, the Bravettes offense moved the ball well and saw a few quarters of basketball with good looks offensively, but shots at the rim didn't fall. The Bravettes had to turn to their outside shooting game and free throw shooting to pull away, coming away with a 35-21 victory. The Montezuma JV girls move to 9-0 on the season with a three-game stretch awaiting them this week starting Monday night at home verses Sigourney. 
 
Bravettes JV wrap up first half of the season with, 54-19, win over Sigourney
The Montezuma Bravettes capped off a successful first half of the season on a winning note on Thursday's quad vs Sigourney. Going up against a very tough and well-coached Sigourney squad, the Bravettes pressure and ability to stay calm in the storm on the offensive end, willed the team through to the finish. In the 54-19 victory, Montezuma controlled the game from start to finish. Kierstyn Price led the team with 17 points, Alyssa Cline added 13, and Madison Johannes added 11 in a balanced guard attack. Ashlyn Krousie led the team with 6 rebounds. The victory moves the Bravettes to 8-0 on the season.
 
BGM was no match for Bravettes JV squad in, 55-13, win
The Montezuma Bravettes JV basketball team took the court in a quad at BGM on Friday, Dec. 13. Playing in their third game of the week, the girls found their stride as they played their most complete game of the season, and it was a lot of fun to watch. The Bravettes used pressure defense and active ball movement to take a lead early and let it continue to grow as Montezuma defeated BGM, 55-13. The Bravettes were led in scoring by Korrinn Kehoe with 15-points, but had 9 girls contribute to the final point total with balanced scoring across the board. The girls continue their hot shooting from 3-point range as they went 6-12, while coming away with 17 steals as well. The win pushes them to 7-0 on the season.
 
Bravettes JV squad had strong defensive effort in 29-11 win over HLV
The Montezuma JV girls played a half of basketball against the HLV basketball program taking the, 29-11, win on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in a quad. The Bravettes came out strong defensively, taking defensive stops and turning those strong possessions with 9 steals into points on the offensive end. The team knocked down three 3-pointers in the half of basketball, with 13 made shots coming on 6 assists. The team had a balanced scoring effort with five Bravettes scoring multiple baskets in the half. The JV Bravettes move to 6-0 on the season.

Iowa Valley no match for Bravettes in, 44-25, win over the Tigers
The Montezuma Bravettes JV team played their second game against Iowa Valley of the season on Monday, Dec. 9 in a JV doubleheader. The Bravettes battled the Tigers early, taking a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter but a strong performance on the defensive side of the ball and added pressure took the Bravettes to a 29-11 halftime lead. The teams traded baskets in the second half, with Montezuma coming away victorious, 44-25. The Bravettes were led in scoring by Kierstyn Price with 11-points, and Korrinn Kehoe added 9-points and 6 rebounds. Kayleigha Groenendyk made the most of her minutes, coming away with 4 rebounds and some lockdown defense. The Bravettes move to 5-0 on the season.
 
Bravettes take down Colfax-Mingo, 42-26, to move to 4-O on the young season
The Montezuma Bravettes JV team traveled to Colfax-Mingo for a JV doubleheader on Monday, Dec. 2. Battling against a full Colfax-Mingo program, the Bravettes came out ready to go and found ways to play with energy early, creating steals and forcing turnovers. Ashlyn Krousie and Kallie Robison led the team in scoring with 9-points apiece. Rayna Hammen scored her season-high with 6. Madison Johannes led the team with 5 assists and 7 steals. The girls shot well from 3-point range, shooting 7-16 from deep in route to a 47-26 victory. The Bravettes moved to 4-0 on the season.
 
Bravettes take care of business in, 51-16, win at Pella Christian
The Montezuma Bravettes JV team played in the first game of the high school girls doubleheader on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Pella Christian. The Bravettes played strong on-ball defense and helped the defense to push past a very competitive Eagles team to claim their third victory of the season, with a final score of 51-16. The Bravettes had a balanced scoring effort with five players scoring 7 or more points: Madison Johannes (11), Kierstyn Price (10), Kallie Robison (9), Korrinn Kehoe (8), Ashlyn Krousie (7).
