Iowa Land Sales & Farm Management helping families buy, sell and manage family farms

        If you are looking to purchase a piece of land, buy or sell a farm or need a farm manager, look no further than Iowa Land Sales & Farm Management of the rural Montezuma area.
        The business, which was founded in 2012, specializes in helping clients buy, sell and manage farmland.
    The company is under the direction of Vince Johnson and Matt Mann, both lifelong residents of Montezuma.
       Mann is a graduate of Iowa State University and holds an ag business degree and is a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Johnson graduated from Wartburg College with a business administration degree, with emphasis in marketing. He is a member of the Realtors Land Institute. Both men are graduates of Montezuma High School.
      When asked how the company started, Johnson said he and Mann grew up in multi-generational farm families and they knew each other for a long time.
        At the time, Mann was working for Hertz Farm Management while Johnson was already established in the area owning a title and appraisal company and serving as a land agent with People’s Company.
      “We started talking and it made a lot of sense for the both of us to utilize each other’s experience and expertise and form a new company called Iowa Land Sales & Farm Management,” said Johnson.
       When asked, Johnson said the company’s farm sales generally come from referrals, estate settlements, bank trust departments, working relationships with attorneys, accountants, and bankers. Work is also generated from ownership disputes, sales inquiries via the company’s website and most importantly, referrals from satisfied clients.
        The business also specializes in helping families dealing with estate issues and matters.
        “Many times, the farm has been in the family for a long time and the sale of the family farm can be a very emotional transaction to make,” said Johnson.
        The business focuses all it resources on helping clients buy, sell and manage farmland in Iowa only.
       The business sells both large and small farms and parcels of land. The largest transaction the company has been involved in was in 2022 when the company facilitated and sold 1,450 acres m/l in 10 parcels of land at public auction in Southwest Iowa.
        When asked how many farms and acreages the business sells each year, Johnson said it varies from year to year.
         “We are consistently ranked as one of the top auction companies in the state of Iowa,” said Johnson.
     All farm and land auctions are held in facilities that provide an environment that’s conducive to competitive bidding and provides restrooms, good internet/Wi-Fi connectivity and of course, protection from Mother Nature.
       “Our farm auction bidding platform offers all three of these options to potential buyers,” said Johnson. “This provides great value to our clients when selling a farm.”
         There is also the farm management side of the company, which is mostly under the direction of Mann.
He specializes in understand the client’s goals and objectives for their property and tailors services to meet the farm owners expectations. Mann handles the day-to-day activities on the farm, along with lease negations, grain marketing, overseeing improvement projects, to name a few of the services provided.
