It was 2017 when Montezuma and BGM last met each other on the gridiron during regular season play in Class A. That is changing for 2021, as both teams are now 8-man and will play each other during the regular season.
The change is part of the district assignments for the 2021 football season recently released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Board of Control.
Montezuma went to 8-man football in 2018 and BGM moved to 8-man in 2020.
“We’re excited about the new opportunity…it’s always nice to have a face to match to your work,” noted BGM Coach Jerod Burns. “Our kids are excited to get back on the field and compete in that district.”
The Grinnell Tigers will also have a new district alignment, playing teams mostly in the eastern and southeastern part of the state.
Following are the district alignments for area schools:

8-Man - DISTRICT #7

BGM, Brooklyn
Grand View Christian
Melcher-Dallas
Montezuma
Twin Cedars, Bussey
Woodward Academy

Class 3A - DISTRICT #5
