Tommy Hexter (D-Grinnell, HD 53) will be hosting a town hall to meet future constituents and speak more on his campaign platform. The event is Tuesday May 21 at Montezuma Memorial Building from 6:30 to 8 p.m., 205 E Main St., Montezuma.
Hexter is attending multiple town halls across the district to hear from voters on their issues in today’s Iowa. The event will start with a speech from the candidate, followed by a question and answer session, and finally a meet and greet with the candidate.
“The people of Poweshiek and Tama counties, like so many other underrepresented communities in Iowa, deserve a chance to have their voices heard,” said Hexter. “My fellow Iowans deserve a representative, not another politician who will cater to big corporations intent on carving out Iowa and leaving behind a devastated environment.”
“With new cancer rates in Iowa one of the highest in the nation, diminishing state funding for education, and continued erosion of Iowa’s natural resources from big corporations, it is time for a change,” added Hexter. “Close to $2 billion dollars are sitting in state coffers instead of funding programs to help build strong, livable communities for Iowa taxpayers.”
Change starts at the local level and with the help and votes of Iowans in communities across the district, from Brooklyn and Montezuma to Tama and Garwin, Hexter said he will help bring about that change.
