Montezuma teachers Alicia Minner, left, and Marie Boulton, right, join Jacob Holub, middle, with Elite Sports in presenting a check in the amount of $2,075 to Michael and Elizabeth DeJong on Thursday, May 14, for the duo’s face shield project.
The funds were raised from selling the “United We Fight” T-shirts through Elite Sports. Half of each sale went to the DeJong team, who are making and donating face shields in the fight against COVID-19 in the basement of their Lake Ponderosa home. The brother and sister team have made and donated more than one thousand face shields to hospitals, care centers and medical professionals since early March.
“I am very thankful to have such a supporting community behind my back, even in the difficult times we are in right now,” said Michael. “I wish I could thank everyone who took part in this fundraiser as it will allow me to continue producing face shields for those in need.”
