Deep River SAL Pinewood Derby brings racing fans together

       Olivia Wilhelm, left, took first place honors in the Female 18 years and up class at the Deep River SAL Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Feb. 24. Tonya Meldrem Mick earned second place honors and Gail Johnson's car being held by Jacki Bolen took third-place honors in the class.

       Dan Schuster, left, of Cedar Rapids took first place honors in the Male 18 years and up class at the Deep River SAL Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Feb. 24. Shay Moore earned second place honors while Bill Bolen's pinecer derby entry, being held by his wife, Jacki Bolen, took home third place honors at the race.

       Zephyr Moore, left, earned first place honors in the Junior Boys Class at the Deep River SAL Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Feb. 24. Keegan Tompkins earned second place honors with his pinecar derby truck and Zion Moore took home third place honors at the racing event.

Her sister, Bella Rae Bracey earned second place honors in the class while Brinlee Mann, being held by her mother, Lyndie, earned third place honors.

       Weston Widmer with Kamden McCracken, left, took home first place honors in the Youth Boys Class at the Deep River SAL Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Feb. 24. Second place honors went to Brian Armstrong with Pete Armstrong and third place honors were awarded to Beckett Hanchett.

      Dan Schuster of Cedar Rapids earned first place and Grand Champion honors at the Deep River SAL Pinewood Derby. Dan, who brought a suitcase of pinewood derby cars to the race, said he's been racing them for years.
