Roger and Nancy Allen, of Montezuma, visit with Hazel Sig, founder of Sig Mfg., during her 100th birthday celebration on Sunday, March 6 at the Presbyterian Family Center in Montezuma. Roger, a now retired reporter and photographer with the former Montezuma Republican, covered many Sig Mfg. events, fly-ins, news and more during his 40-year career. Hazel and her late husband, Glen, met while working at the Montezuma Republican. The couple was married in 1943. The two ran an Indian motorcycle shop for a number of years before starting Sig Mfg. in 1951 in the basement of their home near the southeast corner of Main Street and Highway 63 in Montezuma. Hazel turned 100 on March 3.
