Montezuma’s Trey Shearer has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Jeff Horner’s Bulldogs at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. for the 2021-22 season. Joining him at the Nov. 11 signing were his parents, JR and Kara Shearer, and brother, Masin.
A multi-sport student athlete at Montezuma, Trey said he is excited to start the next chapter in his life at Truman State.
“The entire community of Montezuma has been great to me ever since I was little,” said Trey. “I cannot thank everyone enough for helping me along this journey.”
“Trey has been a tremendous young man to work with and get to know over the last several years,” said Montezuma Boys’ Basketball Coach Derrick Dengler. “His work ethic has been second to none and his leadership was evident from the first day that he stepped on to the court. He will be remembered for a long time for his contributions to the Montezuma athletic programs and greater community. So once more, I am happy to congratulate Trey Shearer on continuing his academic and athletic career at Truman State.”
Trey plans to earn his degree in the education or business fields.
