Thanks to the generosity of the owners of Dayton Meat Products and its customers, those utilizing the Malcom Food Pantry, will enjoy some extra groceries for the holidays and more.
On Monday, Oct. 28, Dayton Meat Products owners, Jake Dayton, Josh Dayton, Bill Dayton and Barb Manley presented a check in the amount of $1,600 to Dawn Hamilton, mayor of Malcom and pantry director, along with two volunteers, Stephanie Ferris and Connie Coleman.
The funds came from freewill donations taken at a customer appreciation meal held in early October at the local locker. The meal raised $800 and the Dayton family matched the donation, making it $1,600.
“We want to make sure our customers know how much we appreciate them for their contained business and donations received,” said Manley. “Our customers were so generous.”
“Thank you so much for this donation,” said Hamilton. “This will help many people.”
The Malcom Food Pantry is located in the former USDA/BASF building on Highway 63.
“We do not turn anyone away in Poweshiek County,” said Hamilton.
