The Brooklyn Opera House, a cornerstone of the Brooklyn community since 1911, hosted more than 188 events and 12,500 guests throughout 2024. These events serve non-profits, for-profit organizations, and families and are spread between the Opera House, Michael J Manatt Center and the renovated bank building.
In addition, a record $75,154 was raised at the annual fundraiser dinner, helping to continue bringing arts and culture to the community. The historic venue provides a big local impact with 12 part-time employees managing the operations at the opera house and adjoining Michael J. Manatt Community Center, along with increased local sales tax revenue for the community. “The Brooklyn Opera House and Michael J. Manatt Community Center serve as a hub for the Brooklyn community,” said Laura Manatt. “With the funds raised from our annual dinner and the continued support from ticket buyers throughout 2024, the community can continue to benefit from this vital gathering space for decades to come.” The Brooklyn Opera House also hosted several community theatre productions this year, including a week-long kids camp workshop. To support more community events and opportunities in 2025, donations are welcomed. The opera house is able to accept in-person, over the phone at 641-522-2424 and online donations at www.brooklynoperahouse.com.
