BGM baseball, softball players reach strikeout milestones

          Two BGM athletes have reached milestones of 200 strikeouts in their prep careers.
          Jacksyn Bullers earned his 200th strikeout in a road game at Iowa Valley on Friday, June 19.
       And on the softball side, Cara Arment reached the 200 strikeout milestone in a road game at English Valleys on June 2.

Bullers, who will be a senior in the fall, has been playing baseball since age 5. When asked about reaching the milestone, Bullers said he wasn’t keeping track, “So it was cool to accomplish 200 strikeouts.”
           Bullers said he once had 17 strikeouts in a game.
           Buller praised his team for having his back.
           “Whenever I don’t strike a player out, my team is always there to get the out for me,” he said. “I love my team and the environment we have together.”
           When asked what Bullers enjoys the most about baseball, he said he really enjoys the competitiveness of the sport.
         “It’s just been a part of me and who I am for so long and I couldn’t have a better environment to be playing in. My team is just an amazing bunch of guys, all with their own personalities, talents, and goals coming together for a simple love of a sport just makes it so much fun. This sport has taught not only me but my team and everyone involved so many valued real life lessons on and off the field.”
         “Jacksyn is a great kid who has worked really hard and tirelessly throughout the off season,” said his coach, Jared Burns. “He’s played a lot of ball games and gets coaching from pitching coaches. He wants to play college baseball and is really commented to the game.”
            In addition to baseball, Bullers plays football and runs track at BGM.

            Arment, who will be a junior in the fall, has been playing softball for 12 years, including two years of T-ball.
            She reached her 200th strikeout in a road game at English Valleys on June 2.
            “Reaching this goal is a huge achievement for me,” said Arment. “It shows how far I’ve come in pitching and how much growth I have accomplished as a pitcher.”
           When asked what she enjoys the most about softball, Arment said the friendships she has made along the way.
            “My teammates make a huge impact on how I play by giving me motivation and confidence,” she said. “Their encouragement throughout the season has pushed me to be a better softball player.”
           “Cara worked hard during the off season and is developing control and more pitches,” noted her coach, Jill Hulsing. “This translates to success during the season for her and our team.”
            In addition to softball, Arment plays volleyball and runs track.
